Snowed In

Yesterday we started on our way to Disneyland but only made it as far as Bakersfield. Aaron had a class for work in LA and Jonathan and I were along for the ride and planning on going to Disneyland with Krystal on Friday. But by the time we made it to Bakersfield it was raining here and snowing on the Grapevine. So we talked to my dad who found us a different route going on the 58 to the 14. But when we reached the 58 it was closed too! So we had to turn around. We were following behind the diesels going back toward Bakersfield and you could tell they had just made it through the 58 cause they were dropping big chunks of snow!!! Anyways we found a hotel in Bakersfield and stayed the night. Now we are hoping to get on the road soon. Fingers crossed the Grapevine will be open by noon. Lucky for us we have the worlds best baby!!! Jonathan was happy and good the entire trip while his parents worried. Hopefully he will be just as good for the second half of the trip!!

Happy Half Birthday Jonathan!

Yesterday Jonathan turned 6 months old! It is so crazy that he is already that big! We have been so busy that we didn't get to do anything fun but I wanted to post a little blog about our boy!
I can't believe all that has changed in 6 months! He is getting so big and even trying to sit up now. Usually he ends up slumping forward or falling to the side but he is getting so strong. He is always a constant surprise to us and we cant get enough of him!
He is the happiest baby ever he is always smiling and playing with everyone he meets. We are so blessed to be his parents.
When we look back at the past almost year now and everything that we went through with Jonathan's heart condition it just makes us even more grateful to have him in our Family. He is truly a very sweet and special boy with a wonderful spirit. He teaches me new things everyday and makes everything so much more exciting! We cant wait to celebrate his first Christmas with him and to continue to watch him grow.

Jonathans First Disneyland Trip!

This weekend we were able to take Jonathan to Disneyland! We had so much fun we actually went down to L.A. because Aaron had to go to a conference for his job but he decided to take us with him and make it into a really great trip. The first day Jonathan and I just hung out in the Hotel. But on Friday into the park! Jonathan got his 1st visit button but he tried to eat it so we ended up taking it off. But he was amazing good the whole time!

His first ride was the tram from the parking structure to the park and he thought it was so fun! LOL! He kept smiling and looking at me like this is amazing! He was always smiling and happy and everywhere we went he made friends! People in lines would talk and play with him. He thought it was great.
Jonathans favorite friend that he made this weekend was Sully from Monters Inc. He loved Sully and Sully was so funny with Jonathan kept letting Jonathan pet him and pull on him it was funny.
Jonathan really liked Dumbo and loved all the pretty lights he could see. He smiled and talked through the whole thing.
He really liked going on the carousel with daddy too. At first the horse going up and down made him unsure but as a whole he really liked it too. He was really good on all the rides we took him on and really liked being able to look at everything. His favorite things were probably Finding Nemo and Fantasmic! He loved them both even though they were the loudest! LOL!
But his most favorite thing from the trip.......His Mickey! LOL! The last day we were doing some shopping and found a little Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasmic and decided that we would get it for him. He talked to it and held on to while we finished shopping and when we took it from him to ring it up he screamed! Like the first time he cried the whole trip. He continued to wail till we gave it back to him. Its his new Favorite toy. He likes to chew on his hat. He was very good and we loved taking him and seeing him enjoy himself. We get to take him back in December with our families we cant wait!

Jonathans First Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite Holiday (thats right Krystal I said HOLIDAY!) I was so excited to dress Jonathan up! But he is so small that we couldnt find any costumes that we liked so I found this! He loved his little sleeper and was such a good boy he didnt even try to take his hat off! We found his little pumpkin at the grocery store! HAHA!
He had a really busy day on Halloween since he was in such high demand! He went to Lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Christopherson and then out to Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Matsunaga. After dinner we went to Rob and Kari Christophersons where we got see Grandma and Grandpa Christopherson again plus Great Grandma and Grandpa Christopherson all the cousins and of course his Aunt and Uncles.
Then we moved on again to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Matsunaga! Everyone loved his little outfit and Jonathan of course loved all the attention! By the end of the day we were all exhausted! But we had a great time showing off our little boy!

Rice Cereal & Friends

So this last weekend we introduced rice cereal to Jonathan and found out that he is an animal when it comes to food.  He ate with no problems and actually makes a mess because he tries to go after the spoon.  Its very cute to watch him.  Here are two of the better pictures.

We also had a visit with the curious George family and when I got home I got to say hi to the favorite two kids.  They were quite animated to say the least.

New Job!

I got a new job and start on the 3rd of November. I will be the Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor for Pactiv Corporation.

They are the company who makes all of the Hefty brand products you see in the store.

The plant here in Fresno produces styrofoam food trays like the ones you see in the store. It is an awesome process to see a raw material become a food tray in such a short time.

I will be the EHS Manager for the plant with about 200 employees under my supervision. I will also be part of the 4 person management team including the plant manager, technical manager, and human resources director. It's a wonderful opportunity which also includes a hefty raise and some amazing opportunitues for travel. We are very excited!

Rolling over, feet, and funny boy!

Kristen's camera battery died and we picked up mine to take some pictures of the little guy.  We also realized there were some pictures we forgot about.  Here is one we took tonight.  He has found his feet and loves to play with them.  It's funny to watch him play with them.
This one was taken a couple weeks ago and shows how weird he is while he sleeps.  He didn't move from this position for about an hour or so.
Jonathan loves to roll over...almost like a dog.  Kristen was very happy too.

The Week of New Shoes

So, there are very few true pleasures in life.  New underwear and socks are two of my favorites.  This was the week of another pleasure, new shoes.  Kristen Got to replace her winter boots after 3 winters and I got new shoes for the first time in a while.  We are both very excited.  Oh the simple pleasures in life...

Sickee Boy!

Jonathan had some crusty greenish and yellow gunk coming out of his ear Sunday afternoon so we took him to the doctor monday morning.  We pretty much knew he had an ear infection and just needed to get the medicine.  It turns out he had an infection in both ears but only the one had perforated the ear drum so it had some drainage.  We got some medicines for him and it looks less red already.  The odd thing is, is that he gave us no indication of anything wrong.  He never cried or pulled on his ear, no whining or grumpyness.  We are so lucky to have such a good tempered boy even when he's sick.
He has been a very grumpy boy and the night was worse than when he came home for surgery. It was horrible! Neither Kristen nor I got any sleep and he is still grumpy.  To top it off, he got his first set of immunizations too.  We were supposed to go on thursday but decided to get it all done in one trip. He is a hurty boy:(

Fresno Fair

We had our first trip to the Fresno Fair with Jonathan this weekend.  It was so much fun! The beer rocks, corn dogs, tacos, orange julius', pulled pork sandwiches, and much much more.  We had a great time.  Jonathan loved to look at all the lights and different things going on.  We had very good time.

Mario Kart and Jonathan's 1st Laugh!!!

On the way home from having dinner with both sets of rents at the cheesecake factory, we stopped off to get some diapers at Toy's R US and decided to also buy Mario Kart for the Wii.  Kristen and I played for an hour or so while Jonathan just sat there and smiled at us, and even talked a little bit.  Well, Kristen sat down to feed him and we discovered that he has a laugh.  It's the most adorable thing ever, and we're not biased...Take a look for yourself, and some more pictures too.
Jonathan has learned to hold his bottle...well, kind of.
He likes tummy time again, now that it doesn't hurt his chest.
He's even learned to sit up with a bit of mommy's help.
Most of all he loves to laugh when mommy makes funny faces.

Pismo Beach

So, this post is quite a bit late but I didn't have any of the pictures until this week. Combine that with the surgery, and I think I'll be forgiven. So, the Matsu family and company went to Pismo just before Jonathan's surgery as kind of a last hoorah before the summer ended for all of us. It was a very relaxing vacation. We stayed at a hotel which was literally right on the beach, (awesome), and it was the single most relaxing vacation ever. I think mostly because we didn't really have any set plans. It was a very "fly by the seat of our pants" kinda trip. So, we did just that, relax and chill. We spent some time walking on the beach, shopping, (although, with our finances in the cellar until financial aid came, it was more looking than anything), eating around and playing. We managed to stay out of the sun for 3 days until we were leaving to come home and stopped in Avila for lunch, where the sun was blazing, and in the 3 hours we were there, Kristen and I both got a little burned. The trip was nice, we were relaxed when we came home, which is amazing cuz usually we need a rest from the trip, and it was exactly what we needed. Here are some pictures of the fun.

This is proud Grandpa D-Wayne chillin' on the beach

These are called Fun Cars. They have two wheels in the front, and 1 in the back. They are about 3-4 feet wide, and super fun. It's almost like driving the cars at Disneyland, they are sooooo small. D-Wayne and I overlapped by like a foot or so, and the helmet is a requirement, even though it would fit a Keebler Elf.

So, the BEST thing we did on vacation were rent some Segway scooters. These things are AWESOME! Check out the link to see what they are. These things are the funnest thing to play around with, especially on the beach in the surf. You can even catch some air with them. They are the top pf the list for our Christmas List now, so take note!

Surgery Rescheduled

So...This really sucks...But I guess in the grand scheme of things it's ok.  Jonathan's surgery was rescheduled from Tuesday the 19th until Monday the 25th.  There was a baby born this weekend who is at Valley Children's on medication keeping him alive until tomorrow when he will have surgery to hopefully save this child's life. We are actually ok with the fact that the surgery has been postponed with good reason and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the child taking his place.

Jonathan's Surgery

We have a date for Jonathan's surgery to correct the heart defect. August 19, 2008 will be the day our little boy goes in for the big day. It will be a 6-8 hour surgery and he will spend about a week or so in the hospital. The procedure will be done at Children's Hospital of Central California in Madera, CA. Dr. Edwin Petrossian is the Pediatric Cardiothoracic surgeon who will be doing the surgery. He has a reputation that precedes him as one of the best around. We met with him before Jonathan was born and felt comforted as he explained the surgery. It will be one of the most difficult times in our lives, but we feel confident that the Lord will be guiding everything that happens with our son. Here are some recent pictures for you all to enjoy.
